4 Golden Rules to Finding That Perfect Match

Make no mistake, 2018 is the year of taking control and making big changes. Sure, every year starts that way, but this year has a mantra and its all about dating “Dating with Intention!”

Say goodbye to the guys that aren’t serious about a long-term relationship, adios to the guys who only want to bar hop and bye-bye to the guys who just didn’t see how awesome you are.  This year is all about saying yes to the guys who want to go the long road with you or they don’t pass go!

But how do we do that? Easy, it’s all about strengthening our vetting system BEFORE we ever set foot out the door to go on any date.

Here are my four golden rules to “Dating with intention” and finding that perfect match!

  1.    Accept No Substitutions

Repeat after me, “I will accept no substitutions!” This year you are all about setting your relationship goals around finding men that have their lives together. You will no longer waste time with men that are soul-searching, in transition or playing the field. You, my friend, are looking for someone as serious as you. If they are not, you move on. Often people will make many exceptions in hopes that a relationship will bloom in its place. Now, you will move on until you met a guy with the right credentials.

  1.    Enable the Positive & Disable the Negative

Recently a poll of all apps found that Grindr makes 77% of all its users feel unhappy after using it. It’s time to cut the cord.

This year, you focus on resources that support your goals of a long-term relationship and unplug from things that don’t. So, whether it’s friends, dating coaches, hiring a matchmaker, or LTR driven blogs, focus on filling your space with positive support and energy. Everything else is just wasting your time.

  1.    Practice Saying No

Sometimes it’s just too easy to say yes. Especially if a cute guy sends you a message or that bad boy buys you a drink. But experience has taught us that if we don’t do our research, we are just letting guys take an interview for a job that they are not qualified for.

If a guy approaches you, vet them. Are they looking for a quick fling? Do they seem genuine about their intentions to date? Was their approach to you reflective of a gentleman? If the answer is no, then move on. Saying no is empowering and will keep you focused on guys that are in it for the right reasons.

  1.    Be Confident

There is nothing sexier than a confident man. Tell the world that you are single and looking for that perfect match. It’s 2018 and men are on the hunt for husbands these days! You will be surprised how often friends make the best matchmakers, so go ahead. Tell the world that you are now taking applications.
