As a company, we’ve come a long way since our debut on ABC’s Shark Tank in June 2013. While the Sharks didn’t fund us, we are proud of our tremendous growth and success over the last 18 months.

Highlights:

1) Match partnership. In May 2014, we secured a strategic partnership with Match, the largest online dating site, to be their exclusive provider of premium, personalized matchmaking services. With Match’s backing, we’ve begun to expand our services across the U.S. In addition to Los Angeles and San Francisco,  we’ve added matchmakers in New York City, Chicago, Boston, and Washington, D. C., and plan to add many more within the next year.

2) Online dating.  Like any growing start-up, we pivoted our business model to focus on our core competency: delivering high-touch, one-on-one, matchmaking services.  This meant shutting down our curated online dating site so we could focus all of our resources and energy on the matchmaking business.  As an alternative, we launched a free membership option. This strategy has proven to be successful as our revenue is projected to grow by 8x this year.

3) Hiring the very best. With our renewed focus on hiring and training the best matchmakers in the country, we’ve been able to grow and scale our team quickly to meet demand.  In 2014, we grew from 8 to 26 people. In fact, Newsweek recently named TDR matchmaker the #3 best job you didn’t know existed. (We’re hiring!) We also expanded our age service range to 25-65, with 45-55 becoming our fastest-growing paid member segment.

4) Management team. The company is now being led by CEO and co-founder, Talia Goldstein. Co-founder, Val Brennan, has since left Three Day Rule to return to the law and work with other start-ups, but not before becoming a TDR success story herself!  Val found her own match using TDR and is happily in a long-term relationship.

Love and business both take work, but TDR has proven that hard work has a big payoff. We’re so grateful to have had the opportunity to be on Shark Tank and look forward to continued growth and success in 2015.
